My “American Wizard” solo set originated from a promise I made to make pictures of myself as a wizard holding a wand that was gifted to me. Every year I do a planetarium show that talks about the astronomical origins of some of the characters in the Harry Potter universe. It became very popular and one year someone brought me a wand they had made for me. It was really made out of thanks for a photo session I did for free for a local Cirque company called Bayou Cirque.

The gift of the wand was really cool. There’s a little laser inside the wand that can be operated by a bottom so I can point out the stars and constellations with it. It even came with a little note telling what the wand is made of. It’s just a very cool gift. So, I’d like to thank Ishmael’s Fine Wands for the cool gift and Bayous and Beyond, LLC for helping.

This photo set was actually shot in my kitchen. All the other elements were composited in later.
